Susan B. Williams, Former CEO of the Local Office on Aging, Inc., Passes Away Leaving Behind a Legacy of Compassionate Leadership in Roanoke, Virginia

Roanoke, Virginia – The Local Office on Aging (LOA) community is mourning the loss of its former CEO, Susan B. Williams, who passed away recently, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of advocacy and service.

Susan led LOA for over 27 years, driving historic growth and positively impacting countless lives in the Roanoke Valley. Her deep commitment to improving the lives of seniors was evident in every initiative she led, including the rebranding of the agency from the League of Older Americans to the Local Office on Aging, Inc.

Under her leadership, LOA introduced case management services for seniors and successfully acquired its first facility in the city. She also spearheaded major fundraising events for Meals on Wheels, helping to ensure that the needs of the senior community were always met.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Susan was known for her personal touch. A passionate traveler, she often returned from her international trips with thoughtful souvenirs for LOA’s staff, showing her deep care for those she worked with. Her commitment to recognizing each person’s birthday and life milestones left a lasting impression on her colleagues.
