Michael Kurelja, 38, Tragically Dies in Route 220 Crash in Porter Township, Pennsylvania
Porter Township, Pennsylvania – Michael Kurelja, 38, of Illinois, tragically lost his life in a fatal car crash on Route 220 in Porter Township on February 19, 2025.
The accident occurred when Kari Greenaway, 53, of Lock Haven, drove south in the northbound lanes of the highway just before 7 p.m. and collided with Kurelja’s northbound Subaru Forester.
Kurelja was pronounced dead at the scene, with the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office confirming his death was due to blunt force trauma.
Greenaway, who was injured in the crash, was later treated at UPMC Williamsport.
Following the initial collision, Greenaway’s SUV struck a trailer being towed by a truck before overturning and catching fire.
She managed to escape the wreckage but was struck by a passing vehicle’s side mirror as she ran across the highway.
Authorities are still investigating how Greenaway ended up driving in the wrong direction, and further details about memorial services will be announced by Kurelja’s family in the near future.
Friends and loved ones have shared their grief and condolences on social media, with many expressing deep sorrow for the loss of Kurelja.
