Jeremy Wacker, University of Mary Washington Student from Arlington, Virginia, Passes Away, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Kindness and Dedication

Arlington, Virginia – The University of Mary Washington (UMW) community is deeply mourning the sudden passing of Jeremy Wacker, a dedicated student from Arlington, Virginia.

Jeremy, a communication and digital studies major, was found deceased near the UMW Parking Garage on January 25, 2025. His death has left friends, faculty, and family heartbroken, as they remember the light he brought to their lives.

Known for his passion for learning and vibrant curiosity, Jeremy had quickly become a beloved member of the UMW community. His professors and classmates described him as a person of unwavering kindness, always eager to connect and support others.

In a statement, UMW President Troy Paino expressed, “Jeremy’s spirit was a bright presence on campus, and his loss will be felt by all who knew him.”

Jeremy’s family, friends, and classmates have expressed their deep sorrow online. A close friend, Moneka Coleman, posted, “He was always there to brighten anyone’s day. Such a kind soul, and his absence leaves a hole in all our hearts.”

The UMW community continues to rally together, offering support and condolences to Jeremy’s grieving family. Memorial services and funeral arrangements will be announced by his family soon.
