Jayden Stephenson, 21, Tragically Killed in Police-Involved Shooting in Miami Township, Ohio
Miami Township, Ohio – Jayden Stephenson, a 21-year-old young man, tragically lost his life in a police-involved shooting on February 19, 2025.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a residence on Sawgrass Drive, near the PipeStone Golf Club. Police had responded to a 911 call reporting that Stephenson had been threatening family members with a knife.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and persuade Stephenson to drop the weapon. Despite seven minutes of negotiation and the use of less lethal measures, including a taser and beanbag shotgun, Stephenson reportedly advanced towards the officers while still armed.
In response to the threat, officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Stephenson. Emergency medical personnel attempted to administer life-saving measures, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A wave of condolences poured in from the community, with many expressing grief over the loss of such a young life.
Kurt Kleiner shared his thoughts: “So incredibly sad. My heart goes out to the family during this heartbreaking time.”
At this time, five of the six officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave as the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation reviews the circumstances.
