Hunter’s sudden death has left the football community in mourning.
Known for his fearless spirit on the field, Hunter’s impact stretched beyond football as a mentor to younger players and a beloved figure in the South Bunbury and West Coast Eagles communities.
His funeral, held at the South Bunbury Football Club, saw a gathering of family, friends, teammates, and fans, including Eagles legends Ben Cousins and Quinten Lynch, who paid tribute to their former teammate.
Former Eagles coach John Worsfold shared memories of Hunter’s legendary game-winning performance in the 2006 AFL Grand Final, where his last-quarter goal helped secure a one-point victory for the Eagles over Sydney.
Hunter’s mother, Ms. Brown, spoke emotionally at the funeral, recalling her son’s vibrant life.
"He's given us so much love," she said.
Hunter retired from AFL in 2009 due to injury but continued to inspire with his return to South Bunbury Football Club.
